Riverfest Rakes in Over $70,000 for Children

The annual two-day festival organized by the Service League of Cherokee County was deemed successful by its members.

A popular arts and crafts festival organized by the Service League of Cherokee County recently raised over $70,000, all of which will be used to help needy children.

The league's 2013 Riverfest Committee reported it raised $70,544.72 with the annual two-day festival, which is held at Boling Park in Canton. A check was presented to the league during its meeting on Tuesday at Canton First United Methodist Church.

The juried festival is the league's biggest fundraiser, with all proceeds going to help less fortunate children in Cherokee County. Specifically, money raised will help the league provide necessities such as food, clothing, dental care, eyeglasses medical care and scholarships.
