Food Stamps Cuts Mean Shortage For Papa's Pantry

The food pantry is calling on the public to help re-stock their shelves.

With the recent cutbacks in the amount of people receiving aid in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, one local pantry is calling on the public to help restock its shelves.

Towne Lake-based Papa's Pantry has put out a call for volunteers to donate items due to growing "the number of people needing help with food," the organization said on its Facebook page

The pantry is in need of items such as cereal, oatmeal, cereal bars, canned soups, chili, Ramen noodles, canned pasta, rice, beans (refried, pinto, lima), black eyed peas and mayonnaise.

The agency notes it does not need any green beans. A more specific, Thanksgiving oriented list can be found on its website.

Cherokee residents can also make financial donations, which Papa's Pantry said it will use to purchase perishable items.

Papa's Pantry's Towne Lake location sits at 6551 Commerce Parkway, Woodstock, GA. Its Canton branch is located at 500 Crisler Street. The number to the Towne Lake office is (770) 591-4730 while the Canton location can be called at (770) 479-0729.
