Cobb EMC 75th Annual Meeting at North GA State Fair

Cobb EMC members are invited to celebrate the electric cooperative’s 75th anniversary at the annual meeting of the members, which will be held at the North Georgia State Fair at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta, Ga. on Saturday, September 21.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and will end when the meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Members must register with photo identification at the registration table, while commercial, government and church groups must provide authorization to represent their organizations at registration.

Chip Nelson, President and CEO of Cobb EMC, encourages all members to attend the meeting and enjoy the rest of the day with their families at the fair. Each member who registers will receive up to four free all-day North Georgia State Fair unlimited ride tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at a special discounted price for Cobb EMC members. Registered members will also be eligible to win door prize giveaways including iPads, TVs, $500 bill credits and $1,000 Visa gift cards.

While no directors will be elected at this meeting, proposed bylaw amendments will be presented to the members present and a vote will be taken. Beginning this year, members now have three voting methods – in person at the annual meeting, by mail-in ballot, which was mailed to all members, or electronically at www.cobbemc.com/annualmeeting. Amendments are posted to the corporate website, and members may view the official notice of the meeting and the annual report at www.cobbemc.com/boardreports.

During the event, the Cobb EMC’s volunteer Women’s Task Force has made a quilt, which will be sold through an on-site raffle to raise money for local student scholarships. The group will also be selling assorted Chick-fil-A breakfast items, coffee, orange juice and water to raise money for the Washington Youth Tour.
