Local WNBA Star Indicted for Attacking Ex-Girlfriend - Midtown Patch

A Fulton County Grand Jury returned an indictment against former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw, on Wednesday for her role in an assault case which occurred on November 17, 2012.

Holdsclaw, 35, of Smyrna, faces six charges according to the office of District Attorney Paul Howard: 2 counts of aggravated assault; criminal damage in the first degree; 2 counts of criminal damage in the second degree; and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Midtown Patch has more on this story.

Space Heater Believed to Have Caused Buford House Fire - Gwinnett Patch

Gwinnett Fire officials believe an early morning fire at a Buford home was most likely caused by a space heater.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 5600 block of Austin Garner Road at 3:08 a.m. on Feb. 27 after a 911 caller indicated a neighbor's house was on fire.

By the time fire crews arrived, the two adult occupants of the two-story, wood frame home had exited the residence. Gwinnett Patch has more on this story.

Lawrenceville Woman in Critical Condition After Crash in Athens - Lawrenceville Patch

Ashley Stone, 20, of Lawrenceville, was driving a Honda Element on the Athens Bypass (Loop 10), heading away from the mall, Tuesday afternoon.

She lost control of the car. It rolled repeatedly and landed in a ditch, about a mile south of the Atlanta Highway. According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Stone was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition. One Victim from Weekend Car Crash Dies - Dunwoody Patch

Dunwoody police are reporting that one of two victims from Sunday morning's I-285 car crashhas died.

"Evelyn P. Ngoboworigha died from the injuries she sustained in the accident that occurred early Sunday morning," according to a statement from police. The other victim in the accident, Stroyer Butler, remains in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. Dunwoody Patch has more on this story.
