What Patch Can Do for You

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about the different Patch features. Maybe it’s time for a refresher course. 

There are four ways Patch can help you: events, announcements, uploaded photos and by being a Local Voices blogger.

Before you do anything, create a sign in. It takes all of one minute. I’ve timed this with less-than-tech-savvy Patch relatives (our guinea pigs on so many things.)

Events

Sign in and go to the Events tab at the top, under the big Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch. To the right you will see something that says “Add an Event.” Click that.

Fill in the description and most applicable category for your event.

Hit “Post my event” at the bottom and you’re done.

Announcements

Under the News tab at the top under the big Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch, you’ll see a bolded word “Announcements.”

Click that. Then click “Add an announcement” at the top right. Your options for announcements are Accomplishments , Awareness , Death Notices , Government, Graduation , Honor Roll , Local Connections , Lost & Found , Promotions , Religious Occasions , School Awards , Social Notes , Social Services , Sports Awards , Thank You and Volunteers Needed.

Uploading photos

Say we’re at an event and find it physically impossible to be at every single place at once. The chances of that happening are slim (Ha!) but possible. You, however, took a great photo of a candid moment. What do you do?

Upload it to the article or photo gallery. When you’re clicking through photos, it will say “Upload photos and videos.” Click that. It works the same as Facebook.

Blogging

We’ve asked you a dozen times and will probably continue for a dozen times more. Why? Because they’re really interesting. You don’t have to have a topic or angle, you just have to talk. Talk about politics. Talk about your kids. Talk about your funny dog or cat.
