To Retire Campaign Debt, Sonya Little Takes on Tax Day

Cherokee's tax commissioner is holding a Tax Day Stinks Shootout in Holly Springs on Monday and the money raised will be used to retire her debt from the 2012 elections.

Even Cherokee County's own tax commissioner hates tax day.

As residents in the county prepare to put the final touches on their 2012 tax returns to be shipped off to the Internal Revenue Service, Sonya Little will use the much dreaded day to help raise money to retire some of the debt she accumulated during last summer's campaign season.

The Tax Day Stinks Shootout will be held at Hi Caliber Firearms from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday April 15.

"It was pretty last minute," she said of when the idea we were all talking about ways to retire the old campaign debt about a month ago and thought we should do something on Tax Day," she said.

On her December 2012 campaign disclosures, Little reported she had $10,000 in campaign debt.
