Windy and Colder After the Storms

Here are the five things you need to know April 12.

1. The storms have passed, although we might see a few raindrops before dawn this morning. Today will be much cooler today with a high of 65 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and it will be windy, thanks to the cold front that led to the violent weather Monday night. There's a wind advisory from noon to 8 p.m., meaning sustained winds of 20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph.

Let us know if the fast-moving storms caused you any problems. Monday night wasn't anything like a week earlier, but that doesn't matter if you're the one hit by a tree. Share storm photos by attaching them to this article (click on "Add photos & videos") or e-mailing them to michael.jacobs@patch.com.

2. Elementary schools are serving crispadoras with cheese sauce or quesadillas, lettuce and tomatoes, corn, peaches, strawberries and a cinnamon roll. Middle and high schools are serving roasted pork, yeast rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, and black-eyed peas.
