Rainy Days and Mondays

Here are the five things you need to know April 11.

1. A nice, warm, partly cloudy day with a high near 84 degrees will degenerate through the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with sustained winds of 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. That wind will contribute to a high danger of brush fires through the afternoon, so don't do any outdoor burning. An approaching cold front will create a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with at least half an inch of rain almost certain between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. The storms tonight could be severe.

2. Spring break is over, so watch out for school buses and assorted children making their way to school today. Here's what they'll find on the menus when they get there. Elementary schools are serving French toast sticks with syrup and sausage or hamburgers with tater tots, carrots and dip, and fresh fruit. Middle schools are serving teriyaki beef nuggets, steamed veggie medley, rice pilaf and mini veggie egg rolls. High schools are serving Brunswick stew, Texas toast, breaded okra and coleslaw.

3. Β A Patch favorite, the Cherokee County Mug Shots, will run this morning at 10.
