There’s a war going on in

My sweet little puppies have decided:

1. All the water dishes and food dishes need to be turned over.
2. Three toys—the two Valentine's hearts and the piggy—need to live in the middle of the living room floor.

And sadly, I’m losing.

I’m outnumbered, going on minimal sleep, and I swear they’re just messing with me at this point.

Don’t they know I’m on their side? These two dogs are sweet but so dumb. Yet I’m still being outsmarted on a daily basis.

How does that happen? They look so innocent.

Then, when I get everyone situated, one of them (Scout Finch) poops. I swear, I’m not putting that much in for her to poop that much.

Even though I’m exhausted, I still love the little critters.

On Friday, I noticed a little bump on Scout’s belly. I did the worst thing possible and Googled it. By Friday night, I was convinced she had cancer. By Saturday, I was convinced she had swallowed something, and it was stuck in her GI tract.

On Monday I took her into the sweet doctors at As I sat in the lobby, my little dog turned pitiful. She was cold, scared and curled up in my arms.

It made me think. This is probably like the place where her last parents left her. No wonder she’s so scared. Here I was freaking out about empty bowls being turned over and not appreciating the good things about my little dogs. They don’t bark. They don’t chew. They’re 95 percent house-trained.

I read something the other day that said, “Not everyone knows how to love a dog, but every dog knows how to love a human."

How true is that?
