No Decision on Sunday Sales

These are the top five things you need to know today.

1. According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high around 67 degrees.

2. Elementary schools are serving mandarin orange chicken or teriyaki nuggets with steamed veggies, rice, salad, peaches and a cookie. Middle and high schools are serving Italian pasta bake with breadsticks, green beans and salad.

5. Last night, the county commissioners again discussed putting Sunday alcohol sales on a ballot, but made no decision. The board has until the end of the summer to decide if they want to put the issue before voters this November. "I'm fine if we don't do it at all," said Commissioner Karen Bosch. But she said she was having a hard time getting around letting the voters decide. Commissioner Harry Johnston expressed similar feelings at the The governor that would allow counties and cities to vote on Sunday alcohol sales. Chairman Buzz Ahrens said the county's Board of Education has indicated there will be a special election in November and that the Sunday alcohol sales issue could be added to that ballot. If approved by voters, the measure would allow alcohol sales in liquor stores, grocery stores and convenience stores. Restaurants are already able to sell alcohol by the drink on Sundays in many places.
