It's Wednesday, Hallelujah

Here are the five things you need to know April 13.

1. According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high around 75 degrees. The only downside is that low humidity will create a danger of brush fires this afternoon and evening.

2. Elementary schools are serving popcorn chicken or barbecue, cornbread, mashed potatoes, okra and fruit. Middle and high schools are serving lasagna roll-up, garlic breadsticks, broccoli and garden salad.

3. The Georgia General Assembly passed legislation Tuesday night to allow local referendums on legalizing Sunday alcohol sales. So if you got a hankering for a six-pack during a Falcons game, you could hit the store during halftime. What do you think of the legislation, which Gov. Nathan Deal has said he will sign? 4. On this day in 1742, George Handel's Messiah was first performed in public in Dublin. During the first London performance of the Hallelujah chorus, King George II stood, starting a tradition of standing during that chorus that remains today.

5. Are you feeling patriotic? Celebrate the birthday of one of our Founding Fathers: Thomas Jefferson was born on this day in 1743.
