Seven tips to remember before you take a vacation
Seven tips you should know before leaving on vacation
I thought you might like these seven tips to remember before you take a vacation!
- Notify your credit card company(ies) of your dates of travel and the places you will be visiting. Did you know a bunch of purchases even in a different state all at once can trigger a fraud alert? I once drove a Rental truck pulling a trailer with my truck on it and had to fill the tank every 2-3 hours. Multiple gas station visits in a day triggered an alert.
- Check the water connection to your washing machine and your ice maker.
- Better yet if possible, turn off the water to your house.
- Stop mail delivery with the post office or ask a trusted neighbor to collect your mail.
- Set your air conditioning to around 85 or your heater to 60 to help keep the house reasonable should you have wild outdoor temperature swings while away.
- Scan a copy of your passport and back and front of your credit cards and email it to yourself. Consider using a free email account for this.
- Make copies of your itinerary. Put one in each piece of luggage and give one to a trusted friend.
There are many other tips you can do before leaving for your vacation, but this will help you avoid a dream vacation turning into a nightmare upon your return. Do you have tips of your own? Please share them in the comments below.
