Lady Tigers on the Rise!

The Cherokee Charter Academy volleyball teams are coming on strong in just the second year of the school’s volleyball program.

The Lady Tigers have been playing public and private middle schools in tournaments throughout the Atlanta area since early September.  A recent week found them competing in matches at Cherokee County’s Sequoyah High School on a Monday, Atlanta’s Lovett School on a Wednesday and back at Lovett the following weekend for a tournament.

Along the way, the players continue to develop the fundamentals of spiking, serving, setting, and blocking – while fostering friendship & team spirit.  “All of the girls have camaraderie,” says Maddie Denning (#38).

There are now 32 girls in the volleyball program from 5th through 8th grade.

Coach Jonathan Serrano proudly states, “About 75 percent of the girls have never played volleyball before this season. They have been exposed to so many opportunities to learn and succeed at aspects of the game that are new to them.  I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for the team as they mature and grow stronger together.”

Mackenzie Craft (#19) says the best part is, “Getting to learn volleyball, having fun together and having a great team.”
