Golden Opportunity

Sixth Graders at Canton's Cherokee Charter Academy received a gold mine of a history lesson from members of the Allatoona Gold Panners Club. Students learned about the Georgia Gold Rush of the 19th century and how panning for gold is still done today in Cherokee County...that includes the Sixes/Blanket Creek area where their school is located.  Club volunteers even taught students their gold panning techniques so they might strike it rich!
