Dime Drive

Cherokee Charter Academy is the county's only public charter school. The school has 1000+ students in grades K through Eight. CCA is expanding to include a high school.

Kindergarten students at Canton’s Cherokee Charter Academy led the way as the school collected dimes to help children a world-away. Coins were collected for “The Father’s House,” an organization working to provide food, clothing, shelter, education and a brighter future for a growing population of street kids in Alexandria, Egypt. The kindergartners’ dime drive was part of CCA’s character education curriculum, called STRIVE (Students Taking Responsibility for Important Values of Excellence). The project also helped the school’s youngest students hone their math skills as they kept a running total of dime donations from each grade.  A total of $173.20 was raised.  Said 6-year-old Lainey Blase, "I think all of us did a really good job, even the teachers!"
