2,070!!! That's the number of books read during the 2012-2013 school year by Denise Stanford's kindergarten class at Cherokee Charter Academy. That whopping total means her class won the annual Reading Challenge for the elementary school. The kindergarten classes also won for grade level. How did Mrs. Stanford's class celebrate? Pizza and popsicles! With 1000+ students, CCA (K-8) is wrapping up its second year as the county's only public charter school. Next school year, Cherokee Charter adds 9th grade.
