Small Business Saturday Stays Quiet in Hickory Flat

One small business was barren on the night when business was supposed to be jumping.

It was quiet Saturday night at , even though the big screens were showing the rival games that were going down.

Only a few people who were playing in a poker tournament—a Saturday night regular game—stayed at the restaurant.

Other local businesses offered specials to bring shoppers out on Small Business Saturday.

was part of an American Express promotion that would give those who registered a $25 credit. They also offered discounts on Vera Bradley and Christmas ornaments.

offered patrons 10 percent off their purchase when they brought in a receipt from another Hickory Flat small business.

What wasn't quiet was the larger stores. Around 8 p.m. on Saturday night the parking lot of Home Depot was still full.
