This screen-printing and embroidery business offers products for schools, teams and individuals.

Owner, Tamara Peace, discussed the ins and outs of owning a small business with Patch.

Tell me about your business. What do you do? 

My business started years ago as a hobby and turned into something I love. I have an embroidery/screen printing business.

I primarily service local schools, sports teams and businesses.

How long have you been doing it?

I have provided embroidery for nine years and two years ago added the screen-printing portion.

What's the hardest part of being a small business owner in this economy?

The toughest part of being a small business owner these days is never feeling like I have enough marketing dollars to get the word out.

What is the best part of working in this community?

The best part of working in this community is meeting new people. My husband and I are from Cobb County and specifically chose Cherokee County 12 years ago to buy a home and start our family. We love the small-town feel and of course on Friday night! My passion is helping our schools make the most money they can by providing Spiritwear items the students think are cool, the parents are happy with the cost and the school ultimately makes a nice profit. I get to do something I love, help people with a need. I get to do it in an environment that I control, that operates and grows at a pace I determine, and that helps to support the security, health and future well-being of my family. That is so awesome. I am so blessed.

What is one thing that you wish people knew about your business that they don't.

The one thing I always tell people about my business is that I am a mom who does this because I love it. I work from my home so my overhead is very low and I can pass along those savings to them. I will serve my customers to the best of my ability and my goal is to not only help meet their needs but to exceed their expectations! I encourage everyone to get a quote from me even if they currently are using another source. I want to earn their business and let them know I am here for them should their current vendor not be able to deliver.
