Kudzu Bugs Invade Cherokee County

These invasive insects are occupying Cherokee County in the millions.

On Friday afternoon, as protesters were lining East Cherokee Road to protest the use of funds for things other than public schools, theThe back of each protestor was spotted with the tiny bugs that are invading Cherokee County in throngs.

The Kudzu Bug, or globular stink bugs, are attracted to the greenery in North Georgia and are proving to be a big problem with crop growers and a big annoyance to everyone else.

They were identified in 2011 when they were only eating kudzu in nine counties, but now they've moved on to other crops and have spread across the state, according to an Online Athens report.
