Between Monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and endless other job hunting websites, one key element has fallen by the wayside: face-to-face human interaction.

Now, one new business is changing the way you look for employment.

The year-old business officially opened its doors as a Cherokee Chamber of Commerce partner on Tuesday morning to a host of chamber members for the celebratory ribbon cutting, but the premise for this business is far from celebration.

Times are tough and the job hunt for the unemployed is tougher. The usual 9-to-5 hours won’t work when people are working odd hours just to get by.

To help, Cooper McArn said the office won’t close at 5 p.m. if people needed after hours help.

That help includes placing workers in temporary staffing situations such as light industrial work, technical skills and manufacturing, McArn said. 

Since the business opened a little over year ago, more than 200 workers have been employed with help from U.S. Staffing, McArn said.

U.S. Staffing is no charge to those seeking jobs. Potential employees must come in to fill out an application and have a resume. U.S. Staffing administrators will use community ties to fill open positions.

They aren't Holly Springs exclusive, though. McArn said people from Canton, Woodstock, Jasper and the surrounding areas have already gotten help from U.S. Staffing. 

Chamber of Commerce business owners will send openings to U.S. Staffing who will refer applicants to fitting positions.

Ben Looper, President of , welcomed another Holly Springs business into the Chamber of Commerce by saying they were “getting people in the right places” and that they had a great administration and location.

And help doesn’t come soon enough. Close to 10,000 people are jobless in Cherokee County.

A recent report released by the Georgia Department of Labor showed an 8.7 percent unemployment rate in Cherokee County in July. That’s a steady hold from June when unemployment was 8.8 percent.

The national unemployment rate recently hit 9.1 percent with a Georgia average of 10.1 percent.
