Kony 2012 Sweeps Holly Springs

The viral video aimed at catching one of the most dangerous war criminals in the world has caught on in Holly Springs and Hickory Flat over social media sites.

Joseph Kony is the number one person wanted by the International Criminal Court for his perverse crimes in Uganda, according to a 27-minute Youtube documentary for Invisible Children that went viral this week.

A quick scan of Facebook shows that the movement isn't exclusive to college campuses and metro areas. Holly Springs residents and Facebook users have posted and re-posted the video.

The premise is to raise awareness of Kony's war crimes, particularly drafting more than 30,000 children to fight in the Lord's Resistance Army of which he is the leader.

Then, because of the number of people who support the plight to capture Kony, the US government will send troops to Uganda to capture him, Jason Russell said in the video. Russell made the video for Invisible Children after visiting to Uganda several times.

The site offers several ways to help the cause: donating to Invisible Children, wearing a bracelet to show support and signing a pledge.
