Skip This 'New Year's Eve' Party

You can't spend two hours with so many celebrities and have less fun.

No fewer than a dozen story lines intertwine in the star-stuffed New Year’s Eve.

Those stories are spliced together and made into a movie. The small stories include first kisses, midnight rendezvous, newborns, dying fathers, trapped strangers and husbands at war. The result is a big, bloated cast of celebrities with little to say, except happy holidays.

So who's in the film? Let's roll the credits:

Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank, Sofia Vergara, Ryan Seacrest, Matthew Broderick, Carla Gugino, John Lithgow, Sarah Paulson, Common, Alyssa Milano, Russell Peters, Jim Belushi, Yeardley Smith, and on and on and on.

The film is two hours long and feels like it. Garry Marshall directs plenty of good actors here, but no one gets to break out and get into character.

The movie is about love and new beginnings, but there is not much to love about this film. Too many stars and not enough dialogue make for a weak romantic comedy, and I'm not laughing at all. This is two hours you will never get back.

Try dinner at or for the full date-night experience.
