Two More Rounds of Heavy Rain for Holly Springs, Hickory Flat

Two to 8 inches of rain have already fallen on parts of north and central Georgia, prompting concerns of flash flooding, extensive street flooding and isolated significant flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of Georgia, including Holly Springs, is in for a deluge as two rounds of heavy rain likely start Thursday and continue through Tuesday, so get your rain boots and umbrellas ready.

Two to 4 inches and 4 to 8 inches of rain have already fallen on north and central Georgia, respectively, since the beginning of February.

That's prompting concerns of flash flooding, extensive street flooding and isolated significant flooding, according to the National Weather Service's Hydrologic Outlook, which covers Cherokee and a slew of other counties in north and central Georgia.

Storms systems moving in and expected to bring moisture into the Gulf are to blame.

Widespread rain is expected early Friday through Saturday along with periods of heavy rain again Monday, which should end by Tuesday morning.

Areas south of a line from Rome to Cumming to Homer could see 4 to 6 inches of rain or more, while north Georgia may get 1 to 3 inches. Higher amounts in some areas are possible.

In Holly Springs, expect rain Thursday mainly after 10 p.m., then showers through early Saturday.

Sunday should bring sunny skies with temperatures in the low 60s, according to the NWS forecast.

Monday is slated to be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and temperatures rising to the mid-50s and lows in the 40s.

Tuesday could bring rain early, but sunny skies will make an appearance in the afternoon. Temperatures will be around 57 degrees.
