Take a Hike

Or go for a run or a bike ride at Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Trail.

The weather is hit or miss this time of year, but I recommend taking a chance and planning an outing with your favorite girlfrends to Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Trail Park on Sixes Road (off Interstate 575, exit 11).

You can hike, bike or run on the five trails the park has to offer: Mosquito Flats (beginner), Mosquito Bite (beginner plus), Dwelling Loop (intermediate), South Loop (advanced) and Van Michael Trail (advanced).

I have been to Blankets Creek with my girlfriends several times. We love the exercise. A couple of them are serious runners and consider the advanced trails their training ground. The rest of us like to soak up all nature has to offer us by walking on the easier trails. The time together also gives us a chance for some real girl talk.

Trails are less crowed during the school/work week. Plan on meeting your girlfriends at the entrance of Blankets Creek after getting the kids off to school.

Remember to wear comfortable shoes and take plenty of water.

Mountain bikers always have the right of way. So if you are running or walking, listen for them and move out of their way.

As far as I know, no one has ever been run over.
