Road Race Could Stall Hickory Flat Traffic
The Hickory Flat Elementary 5K Road Race will tie up traffic on East Cherokee Drive and Hickory and Little roads on April 12.
UPDATE at 2:22 p.m. Thursday, March 22: the race will actually go in the reverse direction listed in the article, according to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office. The agency originally told residents the route from last year's race.

Residents in Hickory Flat may want to find alternate routes on Saturday, April 12 as a 5K race will tie up major thoroughfares.
The Hickory Flat Elementary 5K Road Race is expected to cause traffic delays in the areas of East Cherokee Drive and Hickory Road.
The expected delays will happen between 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The race will begin at Hickory Road at the entrance of Hickory Flat Elementary School, and will proceed east on Hickory Road to Little Road.
The route will continue down Little Road towards East Cherokee Drive and then will go north on East Cherokee Drive back to the Elementary School at the corner of Hickory Road and East Cherokee Dive.
