Winter Storm Warning For Holly Springs, Hickory Flat

The National Weather Service has now issued a winter weather warning that warns of snow accumulations and black ice.

 

Holly Springs and Cherokee County could see 2 to 4 inches of snow, according to a winter weather warning issued by the National Weather Service.

In effect through 10 a.m. Friday, it covers Cherokee, nearby Bartow County and areas north of a line from Rome to Cartersville to Dawsonville and Cleveland. The previous winter weather advisory for the area is no longer in effect.

Two to 4 inches of snow, and 5 inches in higher elevations, are possible as rain mixes with and changes to snow this afternoon and evening.

Black ice and hazardous driving conditions are likely tonight and Friday morning as temps fall below freezing. In Holly Springs, the low is forecast for 29.

A winter storm warning or heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.

NWS says only travel during an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
