Cobb EMC crew commended

One of Cobb EMC’s crews was recently commended for going above and beyond to save a life using quick and appropriate action.

Cobb EMC employees Brett Blystone, Chandler Corley, Harold Foust, Ronnie Tucker, Amos Welch, and Donnelly Communications employee Corey Keith, all led by foreman Doug Fitch, were performing regular line clearance tasks on Holly Springs Road when they noticed a motorist gasping for breath and holding his chest. Fitch and Blystone ran to his aid while other crew members closed a lane of traffic for safety.

Fitch checked the motorist’s vital signs while other crew members called 911 and brought the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They worked together to follow the instructions for connecting pads and administering a shock. The 911 operator advised Fitch not to deliver the shock until the motorist was lying flat on the ground. While moving the motorist, the AED became disabled, so crew members delivered chest compressions until first responders from a nearby fire station arrived.
