Only yesterday we were watching The Year Without a Santa Claus and singing along with Snow Miser and Heat Miser as they argued over bringing snow to Southtown on Christmas for the first time in more than a century. And now that puppet-powered animated special from 1974 has become a reality.
Metro Atlanta hadn't seen measurable snowfall on Christmas since 1882. Perhaps Mother Nature was just waiting for Patch to arrive to record the scene.
We'll have video of the Great Christmas Snow of 2010 a little later, but here are some photos from the afternoon. Feel free to add your own snow shots to what you see below. Just stay off the roads tonight, when the temperature, hovering around freezing all afternoon, will fall enough to turn a winter wonderland into another ice rink dangerous for driving.
