'The Hope of Better Things to Come'
Celebrating that hope, keynote speaker Johnny Weaver said Tuesday during Cherokee's Patriot Day Ceremony, is how you honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Cherokee gathered in Canton Tuesday to honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
There were prayers, salutes and musical tributes. Members of the Hickory Log Baptist Church choir lifted their voices in song and testimony.
There were remarks from politicians, firefighters and those in law enforcement. "We can gather every year to remember the victims and families," keynote speaker Johhny Weaver said, "but unless we celebrate the hope of better things to come, we fail to credit their loss."
