Possible Revote on Charter Amendment

Lawmakers agreed to revote on the rejected measure to allow the state to approve charter schools.

Rep. Sean Jerguson, R-Holly Springs, told the Cherokee Tribune that the charter school amendment, HR 1162, had been recommitted for another vote in the state House of Representatives.

The initial vote rejected a measure to allow the state to overrule local school boards in the approval of charter schools.

The second vote has not been scheduled, the Tribune reports.
