New Travel Team Offers Financial Aid

The Cherokee Cats will help those who can't afford the traditional costs of a travel team.

The rising costs of little league baseball have been noted around the country. Now, local kids will have additional financial aid if they want to play for the CATS.

The CATS will be a 9u or 10u travel baseball team that requires parents to pay what the typical recreational program costs. The parents of players must have a financial need for support to be eligible for the team, according to a press release.

Coaches Jim Thomas and Darrell Campbell, both of Hickory Flat, have a sincere desire to help young athletes in Cherokee County that have the desire to further develop their baseball skills to hopefully play at a higher level, the release said.

"Unfortunately, today it is nearly impossible for a player to make their high school team without the exposure from having played on 'Travel Teams' prior to their attendance in high school," the release said.
