Cookies: Girl Scouts Offer App, Card Payments
Girl Scouts begin taking cookie orders Friday, and cookie booths will open on Feb. 7.
Been craving Thin Mints, Samoas or Tagalongs? There's an app for that!
Yesterday the 42,000 girls of the 3,500 troops of the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta began taking cookie orders, but this year they have new tools to push the cookies that fund their programs through what the organization describes as a hands-on financial literacy program.
So you won't miss an opportunity to buy Trefoils, Do-si-dos or the new Savannah Smiles, a tart lemon flavor cookie, the scouts have unveiled the Girl Scout Cookie locator app for iPhone and Android.
This year, the girls also will be armed with mobile credit card machines.
When cookie booths open Feb. 7, you can find Holly Springs and other locations using your phone's GPS capabilities or searching by city or ZIP code. Additionally, you can map a route to a cookie booth and share the results with a friend.
Boxes go for $3.50 each and orders are set to be delivered Feb. 11 through 17. Cookie sales wrap up in April.
