Church Offers Help for Job Seekers
The free seminar will help Cherokee residents who are looking for work.
If you have been unemployed and looking for work or if you would like to try to take your career in a different direction, Hickory Flat United Methodist Church is offering a series of classes that can assist you with your job hunt.
Life Skills is a free, four week seminar that will offer a series of classes specifically for those preparing to re-enter the workforce or re-tool and move in a different career direction.
The classes will be held on Thursdays, starting Jan. 27 and running through Feb. 17. The class will be located in the fellowship hall at the church’s main campus on East Cherokee Drive and start each Thursday at 7 p.m.
Topics that will be covered will include choosing work that fits your individual talents, the process of applying for a job, interview preparation, utilizing technology in the job search and resume writing. Other lessons will include personal goal setting, communication skills and time management.
