Firefighters will be flushing hydrants from now until June to ensure they are working properly. Occasionally this will lead to ruddy water in residential pipes.

If that happens, the Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority advises to run your bathtub faucet on cold for 15 minutes. Do not use the hot water. If this does not make your water run clear, call 770-720-6193 or after hours 770-479-2911.  

Hydrant maintenance will also include several procedures including checking for obstructions such as shrubbery, fences, and posts within 36 inches of the hydrant.
