Body Found Behind Canton Marketplace

Authorities are labeling the person's death as "suspicious"

The body of a 20 to 30 year old Hispanic man has been discovered behind the Canton Marketplace, says the Canton Police Department.

According to the department, hunters called the police at 9:27 a.m. after they found a body in the woods behind the shopping center. The man had no identification on his person when he was discovered.

A department press release says that detectives are investigating the death of this man, and have labeled his death "suspicious."

If you have any information that may help identify the man, the Canton Police Department asks you to call 911.

Has anyone heard the cause of death, any gun shot wounds? They should give us more details, like was the man wearing a coat, (dressed for cold weather; did he appear to be a transient?

Jody,

I just received an e-mail from Canton PD. The autopsy on the man will be completed today, after which the department will have more info to release. The age of the man is estimated to be between 20-30.

Thanks For Your Comments!

They didn't say how old he appeared to be. They should post an artist sketch if not a photo. I hope they

I think the biggest question is why was someone hunting where they are putting a hospital? And by the way it is gun season. Deer hunting is almost over. And petsmart is just past the Taco Mac.

That's what I was wondering... a hospital is being constructed in back of that mall, bow hunters shouldn't be hunting anywhere near where PEOPLE gather... stray arrows and such... More crime - the price of over-developement?

Isn't it illegal to hunt that close to a populated area? I'd like to see info in an article on that.

I am sorry for this mans death & his family's loss.

I think you can shoot a bow in the city...here is the city code says.. It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge a firearm, including pistol, rifle and shotgun, or to shoot an air gun, including BB gun and pellet gun, within the city, except by law enforcement officers in the line of duty and the military when on drill or parade or at a funeral in honor of the dead. However, it shall not be unlawful for any person to shoot a BB gun upon private property if that person shall have first obtained the express permission of the owner of that property to do so.

So there are gun laws afterall.... take that NRA!
You can buy weapons you just can't use them! You can only look at them and admire what once was... Not that I care... Do you know that in weapon free America thousands of people die from them - while in no-weapons countries the deaths do not even come close to 100! If that doesn't confince you of the safety differences your not too smart... America is allowing it's populus to be killed needlessly by not ristricting weapons.... at least they should restrict the automatic weapons again...

Re: hunting in populated areas:
A while back (before road/hospital construction started), while walking my dog in the area behind Target/Dick's, I heard gunshots, quickly followed by the rapid appearance of cop cars. That turned out to be hunters, too, but it was WAY too close for comfort, for me.

And at least the county needs to update their hunting regulations -- we have people firing off shotguns almost immediately behind our house, FREQUENTLY, and we live in an area of one-acre zoning, with at least one sizable/dense subdivision right next door. We're not "country" anymore, folks (despite some of us who have fought to keep us "country").

It was not a man, it was a teenager. He was only staring to live. He was friends with my brother and according to authorities was a suicide which all his friends disagree, they say he would never have done that. Hopefully they did a thorough investigation before and not just assume it was a suicide. His parent were called yesterday and taken to identify the body which came to it being him. They are devastated and so as my brother and all close friends.

Gabby,

I had to sit on this comment until I received official word form the authorities. From what I'm hearing, the circumstances are matching up. I cannot speak to the cause of death, however.

Thanks for your comment!
