was recognized by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a Project SAVE (Sudden Cardiac Death: Awareness, Vision for Prevention and Education) Heart-Safe School.  Project SAVE assists and recognizes schools that have implemented programs to prevent sudden cardiac arrests in schools. 

Genelle Hood, an first grader, was honored as the second-quarter perfect attendance winner. She received a bicycle.

A kindergarten class at Holly Springs Elementary School created puppets and learned a song about the meaning of Groundhog Day. The Creekview High School Beta Club  sponsored its second annual Muscular Dystrophy (MDA) Walkathon and raised more than $2,400. Those funds will allow three kids to go to MDA camp.

Beta Club members include: President Nicole Torralba, Vice President Madison Thrift, Secretary Madeline Ryan, Treasurer Maida Ahmad, Elspeth Male, Lizzie Perrin, Victoria Cochran, Julia Dayoub, Anna Dunn, Casey Brannon, Abigail Sherrod, Matt Singleton, Steven Shugart, Joseph Sorrentino, Ryan Sander, Emilie Barnes, Sloan Anderson, Hannah Rowland, Victoria Bowman, Rebecca Dickinson, Anisah Rashid, Kali Somsen, Paige Amoss and Danielle Chiavelli.

Students at learned about bread baking and giving to those in need.  Hickory Flat Guidance Counselor Sharon Coltrain organized the “Lifeskills Baking Program” event through the King Arthur Flour Company of Norwich, VT.  Students learned about the science of baking, including how yeast helps dough to rise, and about the math and planning skills involved with baking, according to a CCSD release.

Each student got enough supplies to bake two loaves of bread at home: one for their family and one to give to the needy. In all, the students brought 197 loaves of bread back to school to give away. The Atlanta Food Bank picked up the bread for distribution to families in the community that need food. 

The Holly Springs Elementary County Science Fair winners were Chandler McCloud, third place in Plant Sciences; Hannah King and Rebekah Bobo, second place in Behavioral Sciences; Ryan Hill, second place in Cellular and Molecular Biology.
