Amateur Radio Field Day
The Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club (KARC) readies for 24-hour contest.
TheΒ Kennehoochee Amateur Radio ClubΒ (KARC) held their annual Radio Field Day atΒ Β in Acworth, sponsored by theΒ American Radio Relay LeagueΒ (ARRL).
The goal of Field Day is for the KARC club members to work as many stations, contact as many fellow amateur radio enthusiasts as possible around the U.S. and Canada in a 24-hour period, beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25. More than 35,000 amateurs participate in the Field Day every year.
This is not a fully adjudicated contest, and the KARC also held their Family Picnic as part of the Field DayοΌso there was plenty of burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks to celebrate the day.

In addition to the Field Day activities, the KARC did some instruction and training. A group of Boy Scouts from all around the metro area received classroom instruction and will attain their Radio Merit Badge as they take their training on the airwaves and actually make contact with other stations.
