Several volunteer firefighters got their Basic Firefighter certification recently at a ceremony with keynote speaker Johnny Weaver, a former chief with Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department and Chaplain for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

Special awards were given to some volunteers:

Stefan St. Peter received the Pinnacle award for his dedication to "reach the top."  Also, Paul Manners got the Lewis Williams Outstanding Achievement Award.
