Website Launches with Tools for Parents to Fight Childhood Obesity
Did you know that Georgia ranks second out of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., for our rate of childhood obesity? September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month and it’s the perfect time to address this issue that directly affects the Holly Springs community.
As the largest clinical care provider of pediatric healthcare in the country, doctors at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta have discovered that parents find it hard to talk to their children about obesity and healthy lifestyles. Shockingly, parents have admitted that talking to their children about sex and drugs is easier than discussing weight and body image.
Children’s Healthcare is encouraging parents to take action and have “The Talk” about healthy lifestyles with themselves and their families, as well as take simple steps to get started. They have re-launched their website – www.Strong4Life.com – that provides the tools to start this conversation, as well as new videos that demonstrate how the ‘The Talk’ and the issue of childhood obesity plays a role in everyone’s lives.
