Cherokee Counties Finest & Bravest Visit Cherokee Charter Academy

Cherokee Charter Academy's Kindergarten class had the opportunity to learn firsthand what a life of service to the community really means.  The children had a visit from area law enforcement and firefighter personnel including the Georgia State Patrol, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Cherokee County Fire & EMT, Holly Springs Police K-9 Unit and the Red Hot Fire Truck.

Lessons the kids have been learning in Social Studies and through the schools STRIVE curriculum about "community helpers" came to life as the guests talked about their training & jobs and showed off the special equipment they use on a daily basis.

The public safety specialists also emphasized the skills that students need to stay safe - including knowing their phone numbers & addresses and how to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Five-year-old Alyssa said, "Fire can really burn your skin.  The firemen help you."

Said six-year-old Chase, "When I grow up, I want to be a policeman. I would help people."
